MORE access to buses for the Browns Plains corridor is now under consideration after a recent visit to the area by the Assistant Minister for Public Transport Steve Minnikin.

The Minister met with State Member for Logan Michael Pucci and Logan City Councillor Trevina Schwarz and travelled around the electorate.

Mr Pucci said it was vital the government was aware of the rapidly growing regions of Logan and the need for public transport.

"Now that the Assistant Minister has had the opportunity to view first-hand the current conditions of the network here in Logan and in conjunction with my recommendation regarding public transport, a strong case to improve the public transport network in the area can be made," Mr Pucci said.

"It is important to note that the suggestions are exactly that at this time.

"The next stage is to consider how changes to individual routes may affect other parts of the network.

"Translink has worked collaboratively with our delivery partners to develop a series of proposals, encompassing every bus route within the network.

"Once that has been completed, we will receive indications on what decision has been made and how it will affect our community."

Mr Minnikin also met with local stakeholders and business owners to get their views on the need for public transport services.

Flagstone Community Association president Bob Wiley said his meeting with the ministers was positive.

"It was a very positive meeting and it is great to see that a serious assessment to improve public transport for our community was undertaken by Mr Pucci," Mr Wiley said.
