THE power and reach of the Australian Regional Media group has been strongly endorsed by Queensland Treasurer Tim Nicholls.

Speaking at ARM's Queensland Economic focus night in Brisbane, the Treasurer gave a glowing report about his government's recent Strong Choices questionnaire partnership with ARM's suite of regional daily newspapers.

The government had asked Queensland's most powerful regional news network to partner them in seeking the public's opinion on how they should shape the 2014 budget.

While other media organisations also weighed in with digital and in-print support, the Treasurer said the feedback from ARM papers was above all other media organisations by more than two-thirds.

"The campaign with ARM exceeded all expectations. We knew that getting people involved in solving the budget problems needed more than just me standing up and saying we have a problem," he said.

"That's why we partnered with ARM and the feedback was the biggest engagement we have ever received."

ARM editorial director Bryce Johns interviewed the Treasurer as well as Toowoomba entrepreneur Denis Wagner in front of more than 100 business leaders.

The night doubled as a company rebranding, with a new corporate logo and focus on providing readers and advertisers with unique material.

The Treasurer's passionate commitment to regional Queensland was matched by the man who leads the family company committed to changing the face of Toowoomba.

"We realised there was a connectivity issue facing the future growth of Toowoomba and we decided to fix it," he told the crowd.

Mr Wagner went on to detail how his company had steamed ahead with its Wellcamp airport project transforming a green field site just 18 months ago to where it is today, just four months away from welcoming its first jets.

"To put it into perspective our runway is only 300 metres shorter than the runway at Brisbane international and we can also land 747s on it," he said.

"Once in use it will totally change the face of industry in the Darling Downs."
