MURGON's Jared Sippel has been selected in the Queensland 12 and under schoolboys' team after outstanding performances representing Wide Bay at the Queensland Schoolboys' Cricket Championships in Bundaberg last week.

Sippel earnt selection to the state schoolboys' squad after excelling against some of Queensland's best junior cricketers.

It is the second year in a row the talented youngster has made the Queensland schoolboys' side after making his debut last year.

The Murgon and District Cricket Club player began the championships in emphatic style after scoring an unbeaten 129 after retiring in Wide Bay's second game victory against Capricornia.

Sippel also played a hand with the ball, taking 2/26 from his eight overs in the 107 run victory.

The 12-year-old who made his A-grade debut for the Murgon Crusaders last month continued his fine form in Wide Bay's fourth match of the championships.

As well as his stellar batting performances, the off spinner played a vital bowling role for Wide Bay, taking eight wickets at an average of 11.25.

Sippel will now represent Queensland at this year's National Cricket Championship to be held in the Barossa Valley in South Australia from December 8-15.

Fellow Murgon and District Cricket Club member Tom Carney also represented Wide Bay at the state championships. Carney took three wickets for the tournament at an average of 20.33.
