A KINGAROY man will be recognised for 10 years of service to the State Emergency Services.

Peter Verbakel, 61, joined the SES in 2001 after moving to town because he wanted to get to know the community.

He will be awarded the Meritorious Service Award at the conclusion of SES Week on Saturday at a SES service awards ceremony at Gympie.
