Damage of $400,000 in suspected arson attack

POLICE have been called to investigate after $400,000 of machinery was lost in a suspected arson attack at a construction site.

An unknown number of people broke into a compound at Columbia Drive, Bellbird Park, about 9pm Sunday, setting fire to an excavator and other equipment on the grounds.

The excavator and a large amount of piping was destroyed.

Police said the arsonists damaged a tyre on another vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Detectives from the Goodna criminal investigation branch are conducting enquiries.
