After 60 years of dancing and teaching dance, Gaynor Lock knows how hard it can be for young Toowoomba dancers to get started on a career in the industry. There are few institutions in Australia able to provide dance at a tertiary level. Mrs Lock has felt for years that Toowoomba had enough great dancers to support a certificate-level course, and she has finally found a way to do it at Northside Dance Studio. Toowoomba dancers keen to complete a certificate III in performing arts majoring in dance, can now do so. The course is open to anyone over 15 years of age. Students who wish to continue at high school must get permission from their school to attend 1 full day a week. All units successfully completed are credited to the students LUI number with the QLD Studies Authority and go towards their QLD Certificate of Education.
